The Beastwoman’s teeth were gritted. She’d put much focus into the enemy before her, now. Steely-eyed and frowning, Topaz concentrated her energy into the magic of her wind-whip spell, entangling the beast and keeping it situated to the ground. Wind of dark color appeared to pick up all around the group’s vicinity. Fiery-crimson locks of hair blew back and against her face. She could feel it struggling against the binding wind, however. Topaz exhaled. She couldn’t help but feel a pang of guilt for the strange creature. Topaz never liked hurting others, even if they were monsters. But her mission had to be her priority. The protection of these elderly villagers was her duty as a Rune Knight. [break][break]
The constriction of her wind constructs increased, causing the strange swine beast to let out a loud squeal. Its thrashing began to slow. It had overexerted itself and its energy was dwindling, Topaz thought. Perhaps, now that it was debilitated, she could let it free without issue. It could just run off and back to whatever grizzly hole it had come from. [break][break]
“E-Eh? Are you sure?” [break][break]
Topaz’s ears slightly flattened against her head. Dethener had walked up near her and requested for her to dispatch their foe. She didn’t see a reason why to rid it of its life. So worked up over the battle, Topaz had not taken notice of the strange aura that was slowly overtaking the odd hog. [break][break]
“Mmph-- Alright, Sir,” [break][break]
The fox-eared maiden quickly shook her head and corrected her statement. He was her overseer on this mission and she didn’t have the luxury of objecting. Except, of course, if she wanted Dethener to scold her. And Topaz did not fancy the idea of him badmouthing her to her superiors. [break][break]
She drew another hand up and swiftly motioned it downward- the tentacle she was controlling doing the same action. It slammed down on the creature’s head, aiming to use the immense winds to crush it underneath.

NAME: Zephr's Lasso
TYPE: Offensive / Defensive
RANK: C
MODS: Construct (Air Ropes), Immobilize, Knockback
DESCRIPTION: Topaz casts out ropes of air that can either be used as whips or as a means of binding around a target's torso and lower body to hold them in place for a turn. When used to injure, the whips knocks back any opponent targeted.
NAME: Viscous Vaccum Wave
TYPE: Offensive
RANK: D
MODS: Damage Over Time, Affliction (Restrictive Air Pressure)
DESCRIPTION: Topaz launches out vacuum blades of air that are aimed to hit and cut the target. When the attack hits, it subtly changes the pressure of air around the target, making it slightly harder for them to move. The spell itself isn't incredibly strong and is designed to be used multiple times in battle. Once the vacuum blades hit an opponent, they become the surrounding air's target, and thus, more wind is inputted into the attack every turn, making the attack more powerful.
NAME: Airbound Terror
TYPE: Support
RANK: D
MODS: Flight, Cleanse
DESCRIPTION: Topaz channels wind around her lower body, effectively creating a medium-sized tornado beneath her. This spells allows Topaz to lift her body off the ground, letting her maintain airborne. The magical air can cleanse Topaz of a single affliction or damage over time effect of equal rank, two afflictions of a lower rank and all afflictions of two ranks lower and more.

Having gotten situated into her spot in the expanse of grass, the crimson-haired maiden allowed herself to let out a sigh. She might as well do her best here if it was going to be a spar. She could be seen frowning for a bit - perhaps, as a cause of her focusing her energy into her magic. Topaz needed to throw her fear of hurting others to the side. Without getting over those silly concerns, she wouldn’t ever be able to become the best Rune Knight she could be, the beast-eared girl thought. This man might have been a stranger to her, but for all Topaz cared, she needed to prove herself. [break][break]

Collections of dark-colored air began to swirl around the young woman’s body. They span and swirled into the form of tentacle-like structures. She waved her hand downward, casting two of the ‘tentacles’ down at her foe. They aimed to try to batter or squash him. [break][break]

She knew it! Topaz grinned brightly, excited that she had guessed right. 'Aurelio' -- the boy's name she now recalled thanks to his explanation -- may have not been biologically related to the esteemed Commander, but he seemed to wear that same determined expression as Argentus. The fox-eared maiden was glad to have come across him. Not unlike him, Topaz was also new to the whole Rune Knight gig. She had much to prove, however. She wished for nothing more but to show how helpful she could be as a skilled mage. She clasped her hands together and said, "It's an honor to meet you! I'm Topaz Taevas." [break][break]
Her attention turned back to the man who'd ambled over to the stand. Topaz's amber eyes blinked curiously. He had been teasing? The young lady blushed; it had totally gone over her head- or perhaps her ears! At least the man commended the two's enthusiasm. It was a nice surprise to hear he was affiliated with Fairy Tail, though. Topaz had family members who were such. [break][break]
"It's a pleasure to meet you too," She replied, bowing her head. "But, say, if you're already affiliated with a Guild, what caught your interest in these recruitment stands?" Topaz questioned, tilting her head to the side inquisitive. [break][break]
Her ears perked. "C-Could it have been the decorations?!" Topaz exclaimed with glee like a little child. She'd worked quite hard on them, after all.

"Tch!"
The sounds of nature around them had been easy on her fox ears, but as expected, this mission wouldn't be one of ease. Before long, an opposing monster made its presence known to the group, its aggressive actions targeting the elderly within the cab. Thankfully, while its horns did pierce the underside of the vehicle, the beast moved back, ultimately leaving space between it and the passengers. Quickly did Topaz close in, using her body as a sort of wall between the monster and the elderly. Her attention now focused on the monster, Topaz spent no time summoning her first spell. [break][break]
The woman took a deep breath in, consuming some of the air around her into her system. "Zephr's Lasso!" She exclaimed, waving her hands up into the air. The oxygen she'd inhaled was now manifesting into dark swirls of wind. They formed the shape of many dark tentacles that circulated around the body of the girl. She motioned her arms, casting the wind constructs down at the beast to slam it backward. Then, she directed the wind constructs to wrap their way around the angry beast, tying the monster down in place. [break][break]
Slowly, Topaz edged back. While one of her arms was controlling the spell, the other reached over to open the cab door. [break][break]
"Sir, Ma'am, step out for a moment and stand back! As far as you can!" She directed. "I'll deal with this monstrosity!" [break][break]

"Of course I'm good-- and polite and respectful! And so are the rest of the Rune Knights! What are you talking about? Why wouldn't we be?" Topaz asked confusedly, her soft tone becoming a little more heated. She took great offense to what Shinzu was trying to insinuate. Her family was full of loyal Rune Knight members, herself being apart of that. The idea of honor and justice was well ingrained into Topaz's psyche. Her purpose of being apart of this group was to keep everyone safe and monitor Guild activity. "We're all good," She continued, vouching earnestly, "we're here to keep all of Fiore safe, obviously! Have you encountered a 'bad' Rune Knight or something?" The fox-eared maiden asked, ears somewhat flattening like a befuddled puppy. [break][break]
She exhaled and pouted in an attempt to ease her now tense body. Topaz didn't wish to get so angry with this boy but that had really ruffled her feathers. Shinzu replied, speaking of his mask. "If I may ask, uh, why did you attach it there?" [break][break]
"And yes, these are real." Topaz giggled shyly, reaching up to pet the appendages of fur, flesh, and nerves that sprouted out from her head. "I look like a human but I'm actually of Beastman race. Not all of us are completely coated in fur, you see." [break][break]
Topaz let out a bit of a squeak when the blue-haired man suddenly started up to his feet, standing proudly. She got up too and listened to his words, laughing a bit. It was a little relieving that he wasn't the best at his magic, too. Topaz would not have to feel as if she were competing or a terrible mage. It made her happy to see Shinzu so excited to get the chance to practice. "Yeah! Practice makes perfect after all." She said in agreement, nodding her head to a silent beat. [break][break]
Topaz blushed when Shinzu moved even closer. She could practically feel his warm breath down her neck as he looked her in her amber eyes. This boy was all up in her face, but the young woman was too timid to tell him to leave some space. "U-Um, I'll try to put in my best... while also not injuring you too bad, if that's even possible," She mumbled under her breath, mostly to herself. As for where to train... Topaz knew the perfect spot! [break][break]
"There's a small grove a little ways down. It's much more secluded and doesn't have public visitors often," Mentioned Topaz, thrusting a thumb in the direction of the aforementioned area. "I've seen some people train there myself. We shouldn't get into any trouble if we peeked in over there." [break][break]
Topaz took a step back and exhaled. [break][break]
"So, um, wanna go?" She asked.

"Some people claim they go about illegal activities and such. I think they're just trying to make Raven Tail look bad, though."
[break][break] A calm, female voice spoke back to the bandana-wearing man's question. Topaz had been standing just a little bit away, she too staring up at the many advertisements for work in Onibus Town. Fox ears were a little more sensitive to that of a human's. She turned to face the boy, meekly smiling. "I think I might know, anyway. We Rune Knights are sometimes asked to look over suspicious Guild activity. I've never found anything about Raven Tail." [break][break] She walked a little closer before leaning onto her tippy-toes to get a closer look at the posted ads higher on the board. "You looking for a quick job or something? I am too. I'm trying to find an excuse to be around here. My parents always tell me not to visit Onibus Town but it just has such a lively atmosphere! How can you not take a gander?" She giggled excitedly, distributing her gaze between this boy and the board every few moments. [break][break] Topaz didn't see an immediate guild mark on him. "Say, are you apart of Fairy Tail? Or maybe Sabertooth?" Excitement, passion, anticipation! Ah, Topaz could just simply not keep her elated emotions in check! The fox-eared, somewhat-more-red-haired-than-brunette girl seemed to prance around from spot to spot, helping out with the decorative side of the knightly recruitment fair. Her own stand was adorned with beautiful daisies and roses she'd planted herself within the vast gardens of Crocus. It definitely appeared more... overzealous than perhaps one of the other tables around. Topaz couldn't help herself however; she wanted to do anything to meet new mages and aid with the recruitment of new members to the Rune Knights. Despite being a bit on the timid side at times, she truly did enjoy meeting new folks, if not befriending them. [break][break]
Many people walked by, either taking a quick glance or even a flyer if they were really intrigued by the matter. Regardless, Topaz waved at all of them with a jubilant smile across her lips. As her amber-colored eyes gazed two and fro, she did catch sight of a face. A little ways down, there was another recruitment stand that house a blond-haired boy. Topaz squinted. She could have sworn she'd seen his face before! [break][break]
She glanced left and right. She wasn't to leave her spot here but she doubted that a quick minute would not get her into any trouble. The most her superiors could do was give her a brief chastizing, right? With her mind set, she put her plan into motion. Topaz walked over casually and rose a friendly hand to give a wave. [break][break]
Another man, also blond, was there too. Topaz heard his statement but only perceived it as a compliment. She nodded and clasped her hands together with excitement, "It's cool, isn't it! We all worked very hard on these pamphlets!" The Beastwoman chimed. "A Rune Knight's job is very exciting! And fulfilling, too. You should consider it if you ever have spare time!" [break][break]
Her focus shifted to the boy he was overseeing the stand. Another Rune Knight.
"Hmm, aren't you Argentus', son?" Topaz asked, seeing the resemblance in this boy's face to the old Division Commander. Argentus had been pretty distinguished and she'd heard tales of his excellent work for the Rune Knights. She grinned, "If so, it's really nice to meet you! I wouldn't have ever thought I'd get to meet his son here!"

"Mm-- No, I'm actually guildless," Topaz chuckled, shrugging her shoulders a bit. "I'm a proud Rune Knight!" She exclaimed. She tried to puff her chest out and look prideful, but in the end, the show looked a little silly and childish. [break][break]
She grinned sheepishly at this azure-haired man. Her amber-colored eyes observed his facial features curiously. He seemed to be the rough-and-tumble type, with spikey hair and a sharp expression. Her ears perked. That skull-mask-thing was still at the center of her attention. Very slowly, the woman rose an index finger. She pointed at the oddity but didn't touch it. "Is that... Glued to your face or something? I think it looks pretty cool! It matches the rest of your features." She noted. [break][break]
Topaz frowned at this man's reasoning. A little wild, she had to admit. "I'm pretty sure doing that only makes problem worse..." She mumbled under her breath. [break][break]
"It's nice to meet you, Shinzu!" The lass chirped, placing her hands onto her laps. "Speaking of spars... I have to admit, I have been looking for a person to practice my spells with. I wish I could do that without potentially hurting them though," She grumbled, crossing her arms over her bust. "I'm still a little rusty with my magic, but I'm still trying to get it right." [break][break]
An idea coming to mind, Topaz grinned. "O-Oh! Well, I know you wanted to spar. Maybe we could help each other! Are you good with your magic?"

Suddenly, Topaz's amber eyes shot open when she felt something just hover over her face. She was surprised to see that it was the sole of someone's shoe. Finally, it all clicked and she squealed aloud, "G-Gah! No, don't step on me!" Luckily, the Slayer's face had been spared from and squashing. Quickly, as soon as the foot was away from storing distance, Topaz adjusted herself and sat up in place quietly, neatly placing her hands onto her lap. [break][break]
"Sorry, you're right," The young woman apologized, shaking her head in embarrassment. Her soft ears flattened against the side of her head; they were in fact, real. Her eyes focused on the stranger above her. Topaz wore a soft expression, one of a lost child or innocent bystander. In a mental note, she noticed the curious mask attached to this azure-haired man's face. "Thanks for uh, not stepping on me." She chuckled abashedly, a reddish hue creeping onto her facial features. [break][break]
Topaz was taken aback by this stranger's declaration. Just as soon as he'd suggested it, he struck the idea down, flopping onto the grass alongside Topaz. The girl appeared a little frazzled but looked interested in this stranger. "Ah... I'm not too big on fighting if I don't got to. I guess some people find it fun, though," Topaz quietly muttered. [break][break]
She moved closer and gazed down at this blue-haired man. Her brownish orbs blinked curiously. [break][break]
"I'm Topaz!" The Beastman smiled, "I just came here to enjoy the flowers and, well, think, I guess," She explained. "Who are you? Did you come for the flowers too?"

A calm sigh escaped the soft lips of a fox-eared lady as she sat alone in one of the vast gardens of the capital of Crocus. It was a calm day with a soothing breeze, a sort of atmosphere that could make anyone feel quite relaxed. The air was sweet-smelling and fresh, the scent of freshly tended flowers tickling the noses of any passerbys who decided to take a more scenic route around Crocus. With beautiful blooming perennials and plants scattered around the alluring patch, what was there not to be happy about? Well, it was a question that should've been asked to the lone woman sitting within the grove.

Almost mournfully, her ears were flattened against her head. Quite obviously, Topaz was not in a good mood. In her hand, she held a wilting flower that very much reflected her current emotions. "Oh... How in the heavens will I learn to manipulate freakish powers like these?" Topaz muttered to herself thoughtfully, plucking away at the greyed out petals of the flower she held within her hand. "I can hardly prove my worth as a Rune Knight if I can't master my art, much less a magician!"

Once again, Topaz found herself brooding about her strange Slayer powers. She wished she were just normal and not cursed with such powers. Her life would have been loads easier if that were the case. Her parents would not have to constantly worry about her and people wouldn't fear her, either.

Topaz flopped backward and lie on her back, closing her eyes to relax and listen to the sounds of the wind. It looked a little strange for an adult to just be laying down in the middle of a garden like this, however. Topaz simply did not care at the moment.

There were others. Topaz turned to her left and right, finding a blue-haired girl on one side and a silvery-haired one on the other. She could only assume that these two had also fallen victim to this annoying beachgoer's trouble. Topaz spoke aloud in a shout, "Well if we're all after the same thing, let's work together! I can get him off his guard if you two find a way to tackle him down!" She advised. [break][break]
The female rune knight had wished not to use any magical force against her foe in order to keep this peace, but it seemed as if she would have no other choice. All while still running, Topaz momentarily shut her eyes and recited an incantation. "Zephr's Lasso!" [break][break]
Black-colored winds began to pick up from underneath the group's feet. The materialized into almost octopus-like "arms", the whips of circulating air reaching forward at the fleeing man's leg. It wrapped around one of his ankles and tugged backward, forcing him to slow his movement. Topaz nodded forward, "You two... Do something!"

"Ahh, yessir!" Topaz replied, nodding her head at the armored, higher-ranking mage. This would be her first mission in quite some time, so the beast-lady was excited to prove her worth and strength. However, any thoughts of success were greatly clouded by her curiosity. It would have been clear to Dethener that Topaz's crimson eyes often leered into the darkness behind his mask. She could only wonder what sort of face and features lay behind the metal visor. "I won't disappoint," She reassured with a smile, raising her dainty hands into a salute. [break][break]
The crimson-haired lady turned to look at the two elderly folks. She greeted them with a respectful bow of her head. "Hello! I'm Topaz, the Rune Knight assigned to help lead you two to your destination. I'll make sure to keep you all safe on the way there."[break][break]
There wasn't time to waste. With a nod of her head, she motioned the two seniors to follow her lead. She kept close at their side, eyes watchful for any trouble ahead. [break][break]
This couldn't be all too bad, Topaz thought. She was a skilled magician! If any trouble came their way, she'd just drive it away.

With a faint exhale, the crimson-haired lady knelt and then got onto her feet proper. The fabric of her thigh-high boots had been slightly lacerated but her clothing was the least of her worries. Carefully, she eyed her wound. It was a minor gash but it did bleed, dark ruby blood staining the dark material of her leggings. Topaz sighed and shook her head. She was so clumsy today!
