[attr="class","opmindtop2"]HERE YOU CAN LEARN HOW WE HANDLE COMBAT!
[attr="class","opmindblurb"]
[attr="class","opmindblurb1"]In order to ensure that battles are as far as stress-free as possible, we use a simple battle system. Since fighting is going to be a staple on this site, be sure to familiarize yourself with these rules so that you know exactly what to expect with battles.[break][break]
First off, our battle system is entirely freeform; the only “stats” to gauge character strength are Magic Power and magic rank. Both are used as guidelines to determine the difference in power between characters.[break][break]
The first factor to consider is Mage Class. If two characters are in the same Mage Class, they are considered roughly equal in power. If two characters’ are within one Mage Class of each other, then the weaker character is at a distinct disadvantage. However, through strategy and planning, the weaker character has a chance of defeating the stronger character. If the difference between the two mages are two Mage Classes or more, the weaker character has little chance of winning unless they team up with others or receive another sort of help.[break][break]
The second factor to consider is the magic rank. This typically goes hand-in-hand with Magic Power but not always. A character with higher-ranked magic is capable of using more powerful spells. Although this does not mean everything in determining a winner in a fight, lesser skilled mages will not be able to perform the same feats as experienced mages.[break][break]
All in all, just be fair and reasonable in battles; not everything is about winning or inflating your ego. If there is a disagreement, staff will come in and offer a ruling; this ruling is FINAL. However, this will only happen when people cannot come to an agreement among themselves. Communicate and work together with your fellow members; this is all about having fun and creating epic stories. If you cause trouble with battling, you will be punished accordingly.
IF YOU ARE IN A DEATH-ENABLED THREAD, THEN YOU CANNOT JOIN OR MAKE ANY OTHER THREADS UNTIL YOU ARE OUT OF IT. [break][break]
Also, Death-Enabled threads have a post time limit of 48 HOURS. This means when it is your turn, you have to post within 48 HOURS, or you will be skipped. If you are skipped, any or all attempts and attacks against you will be considered successful. This time limit can be ignored under certain circumstances; if you have something that’ll be stopping you from posting, please let staff know.
If you wish to revive, you will post a thread in the Ether waiting for whatever fate you’ll receive upon revival. Then, staff will come in and RP your revival with you. Revival comes with some costs: first, you will lose 10% of your maximum RP upon your first revival. This penalty increases by 5% until a maximum of 20%. Next, there will be some sort of negative effect that you’ll suffer from until you manage to complete a task. You do not get to choose these terms; what staff gives you is what you’ll have to stick with. These negative effects will become more and more severe the more times you die, and getting rid of them will also become tougher as well. However, all of these effects will be given with potential plot significance in mind.[break][break]
Now, this needs to be said: YOU MUST ACKNOWLEDGE WHATEVER NEGATIVE EFFECTS YOU HAVE WHEN YOU REVIVE. I REPEAT, YOU MUST ACKNOWLEDGE WHATEVER NEGATIVE EFFECTS YOU HAVE WHEN YOU REVIVE.[break][break]
Whenever you feel you have done enough to get rid of your Revival Sickness, notify staff with a summary of what you’ve done, complete with thread links.[break][break]
Don’t try to circumvent the revival system. If you are caught doing so, you will be punished heavily. Do not complain or whine about what you have to do as a result of your revival; use them for awesome plot and character development.[break][break]
If you do not want to revive, you are free to make another character. All of your remaining jewels will transfer over, and you will be able to make a new character with the same Magic Power and magic ranks you had before. However, any items that you have do not transfer over.

DEATH ENABLED THREADS
Death-Enabled threads are the only places where character maiming and death can happen. Death-Enabled threads can happen for a variety of reasons and can either be open (anyone can join them) or closed (only specific people can join them). If two mages want to duel in solitude, and they go off into the wilderness to settle the score, then that Death-Enabled thread can be closed. However, you can’t make a closed Death-Enabled thread if you are fighting in or attacking a major location like a town or city. Death-Enabled threads need to be labeled somewhere in the post or thread title that it is a Death-Enabled thread so that people are aware. However, even non Death-Enabled threads can become Death-Enabled if there is enough reason for it to happen, such as causing MAJOR destruction to a city, such as blowing up entire sections of it and whatnot.[break][break]IF YOU ARE IN A DEATH-ENABLED THREAD, THEN YOU CANNOT JOIN OR MAKE ANY OTHER THREADS UNTIL YOU ARE OUT OF IT. DEATH AND REVIVAL
Death is always a possibility in such a dangerous world; however, fortunately for you, it doesn’t have to be the end. Whenever you die, you will be sent to the Ether, which is essentially the Afterlife. You will then remain in the Ether for at least a week. It is possible to be revived; however, there’s ALWAYS a catch...[break][break]If you wish to revive, you will post a thread in the Ether waiting for whatever fate you’ll receive upon revival.
