The Magic Council and Rune Knights were an ever-present force within the magical world. All throughout Crocus were advertisements and fliers calling for any able-bodied men and women with a sense of justice and honor to join the Rune Knights. No matter what, the Rune Knights were always recruiting which made Vallis wonder. Were the Rune Knights that starved for soldiers, or did they want to make their military might insurmountable? Vallis did consider joining the Rune Knights at one point but quickly decided against it. He did not see himself as a good fit for law enforcement. That and he disliked most of the Rune Knights he met. Vallis traveled down one of Crocus’s main streets, content with sightseeing. As the capital of Fiore, Crocus was home to all manners of shops, restaurants, tourist attractions and more. Just as Vallis was about to enter a nearby clothing store, something caught his attention. “DAMN YOU,” a man screeched. Vallis turned around and spotted two men brawling in the middle of the street. “YOU’RE THE ONE WHO MY GIRL WAS CHEATING ON ME WITH. I’LL KILL YOU.” “DON’T BE MAD BECAUSE SHE WANTS ME AND NOT YOUR BROKE ASS.” “WHAT?!” Vallis blinked as the two men continued to scrap. Magical power sparked around them both, and the crowd parted to give the two goons plenty of room to fight. Vallis frowned and shook his head. While it was decent entertainment, this was something for the Rune Knights to solve. Aurelio

Wherever Rune Knights came from, Crocus, the seat of their power, quickly became a second home for them. It is from there that they would be dispatched, to there where they would report, and there where they made bunk in the barracks. It was also where they would patrol, a near constant task for the neophytes of the magical order. Aurelio was one such junior knight, and while his peers might have considered it boring, Aurelio approached the duty with gusto-- as was his attitude towards all his duties as a knight: to uphold them all with zeal. It was on such a patrol that Aurelio, perchance, stumbled upon a fight erupting in the middle of a street, two men at each other's hackles, trying to bash the life out of one another. Aurelio grimaced, his face unusually stern in the face of disruption in the streets, the image of authority, with him dressed in his Rune Knight regalia. . . or he would be, were the youth in his face not plain as the sun in sky. Aurelio stepped forward, ready to bring about an end to this mortal combat unfolding in front of him.
"Alright, men," he shouted, his voice bouncing off the streets, trying to elevate above the noise of the peanut gallery, "I don't want to have to drag anybody to the stocks or make anyone write an essay on why what they did is wrong, so break it up and I'll let you both be on your way!"
Aurelio looked about him. . . they were drawing quite the crowd, including one man who stood apart from the rest, just hovering in the doorway of a shop.
