Vanadis was tried for the murder of her brother. Given the circumstances,and her age, she wasn’t given the harshest penalty. She got a year’s sentence with a condition attached to it. She would have to have a seal to limit her magic powers placed upon her. Should this seal ever be broken, she would have all her magic powers entirely sealed away forever. No one in her family contacted her during that time, save for her grandfather.

After her year’s sentence was up, she was met with by her grandfather, Haggard Seram. When she asked him why no one else had contacted her, he told her with a saddened look that the Serams had disowned her. What inheritance she had now belonged to her uncle, Angelus. Haggard didn’t want to see his son’s daughter be tossed out into the cold, so he took her in.

Vanadis was absolutely miserable during this period, becoming depressed and withdrawn. Everything had been taken away from her and had spent a year in prison. Not only that, but she saw that her left arm was horribly scarred once her demonic take over was sealed. They hadn’t treated her injuries with magic. She always wore bandages over it, even though it had long since healed. She could only perform D-rank magic consistently. It took all her magic power to cast one C-Rank spell. She became withdrawn and depressed, refusing as much contact with people as possible. Her grandfather tried his best, but to no avail. But that all changed when Siegfred entered her life.

At first it went terribly. It had been insulting to her. Here she was, her potent powers restricted. And to add insult to injury, her own grandfather had brought in a complete stranger to train him in magic. She took her anger out on Sieg hard. She constantly berated him, and insulted him whenever he didn’t do a spell correctly. While she no longer had the strength to cast too much magic due to her seal, she was still very knowledgeable for her age.

Despite all that Seig didn’t quit. He didn’t give up and kept on studying and training. Eventually she came to respect his work ethic.A year after Seig came into her life, she found him staring at at the sky of the roof of their home. She didn’t know what compelled her to do it, but she came and talked with him. During the conversation, He told her that he had asked her grandfather why she was reclusive and nasty to him. Haggard had told her everything that happened to her. Seig told her that he understood, and that he lost people that he cared about too. He relayed to her his experiences, and the loss of his mother.

Vanadis was shocked that he was willing to talk to her about all this. She asked if he was repulsed with her being a demon, about killing her own family. He assured her she was young and wasn’t in control of herself. And that her family wouldn’t want her blaming herself. At that moment, a true bond started to form.

From that day on, Seig and Vanadis became the closest of companions. Their shared love of history and magic brought them closer and closer. They often spent nights in remote places, so that they could stargaze and do some more reading. She had never been interested in consolations before, but she took a very quick liking to it once Sieg got her into it. They both shared dreams of justice. Both of them wanted to create a better, safer world for everyone. Seig also encouraged her that she could accomplish that, despite her sealed magic.

The years passed by, and they eventually fell in love. Sieg had managed to make her feel human again, and she cherished the time she spent with him like this. Her grandfather didn’t approve of the relationship, worried that it would distract them both from training. But he was happy that he had restored hope to her. She was outgoing again, cracking jokes, and was truly happy. Those 2 years were the best of Vanadis’s life.

But Vanadis had her self doubts. That she didn’t deserve Siegs love. That simply living her life to the best wasn’t enough. That she couldn’t change the world at her current level. She watched her lover grow powerful. And she felt useless. She began to study into ways of breaking her seal. During this period, she talked with Seigfried about future plans.

“We can leave soon Siegfried. We can join a guild, together. And we can travel the world too. I want to take you to my hometown, Clover. I’d have to wear a disguise, but I want to show you where I grew up. It’s a beautiful place. It has the best Museum of Magical artifacts in all of Fiore! You’d love it there.”

That dream never came to pass though. Vanadris came to her grandfather one night demanding for him to release the seal. He refused, holding by the order that the council had put down upon her. In a rage, Vanadris struck down her grandfather, killing him instantly. She had then turned to see the horrified look on Siegfried’s face. That look felt like a dagger piercing her heart. She fled, leaving Siegfried alone with the body of his grandfather. Once again, she had ruined her chance of happiness.

Vanadis was utterly shocked when no one came after her. She wasn’t listed as a wanted mage. Incredibly it seemed that Sieg didn’t report on her. This meant she didn’t have to hide who she was. In the end she ended up joining Raven Tail. It took some time, but she eventually gained the trust of the master. After he groomed and helped advance her training, she became a part of the inner circle of Raven Tail.

The ones she ended up trusting the most were the master and Rumi, the latter of who she formed a strange friendship with. Both of them were outgoing individuals who had darker sides to them, and they accepted that about each other. Vanadis doesn’t perform a mission above the C-level officially. So that she doesn’t have to go all out and reveal her powers and risk getting exposed. Behind the scenes she does various missions that the magic council has deemed illegal. She uses a magical mask to alter her appearance when on those missions.

With her powers fully unteathered, Vanadis studied magecraft like never before. She dove into every aspect she could get her hands on. In particular she looked into ways to potentially revive people from the dead. She sought to fix the things that had torn her life apart. With all the studying and training, all she needs to reach her true potential is to break the seal put upon her.
