"Too much talk,
Not enough boom."
Not enough boom."
If there was one thing that Caliber had learned again and again, yet always fell victim to, it was getting into drinking matches against men several times bigger than him, and likely with a higher constitution. He never understood how or why it happened. One minute he's eating a decent meal, or playing the card game, the next he's staring down his 5th cup of Fioran Ale, with a crowd twenty deep cheering him on. And then, as always, instant darkness.
The first thing he recognized while conscious was the constant bumping of his head against the floor. It wasn't through his own effort though... he was moving. The next thing he noticed, when he tried to move, was that his hands and legs felt bound, restricted. They weren't cold, or heavy, so it was likely rope. He opened his eyes, and was flooded with the light of a bright sun, somewhere around noon if it's intensity was anything to go off of. "Hrgghhhhhh." He groaned as he shifted himself to sit up.
"Hey, your finally awake, huh?"
His eyes finally adjusted, he could see he was in a wagon, bound along with another man who sat in a similar position across from him. "Unfortunately. Where are we headed?" He said, looking at the surrounding forest for any indications.
"Probably their camp to do hard labor or something."
"Bandits?" The man nodded. Damn it.
"They found you slumped on the road about... four hours ago? Just picked you up and tossed you on."
"Sounds about right." This was not the first time he'd been captured by bandits. Nor would it likely be the last. They were as common in this part of Fiore as deer, and were a constant for quest and bounty boards. Caliber sat back against the wall of the wagon, attempting his best to stretch his legs. "So, what's your story?"
"I was actually, uh, doing a quest to stop them from kidnapping people."
"Uh-huh... well your doing great, so far."
"Hey, they fight dirty. One of them snuck up behind me and hit me with a club."
"Well, they are you know, criminals. It's not like they're held to some code of honor." The man had an annoyed look on his face. Well it was true. Bandits fought dirty. One on one, they might be easy to handle, but were a problem in large groups. And then there was the fact that their always seemed to be more of them.
"I have a plan for us to get out of here. If I-"
"Don't bother."
"What?'
"You said the quest was to stop them, right? Well, beating up these couple of guys doesn't really do much, if they have an entire camp. You need to wipe that out. And, they are being kind enough to take us to it. So just wait."
